Widows of Virginia State Police troopers killed in 2017 Charlottesville helicopter crash file separate wrongful death lawsuits

In continuing coverage, the AP (8/14) reports that, according to the Daily Progress, Amanda Bates and Karen Cullen, the widows of Virginia State Police (VSP) troopers H. Jay Cullen and Berke M.M. Bates, “filed separate wrongful death lawsuits Monday against Virginia, the Secretariat of Public Safety and Homeland Security and state police.” According to the AP, the two state troopers were “monitoring the “Unite the Right” rally on Aug. 12, 2017, when their helicopter crashed.” The AP reports that the “lawsuits say the helicopter had a history of malfunctions, including the tail rotor issues.”
