NCAA Concussion Class Settlement Worth $75M

The National Collegiate Athletic Association will spend $75 million to resolve a class action over collegiate athletes’ brain injuries under a settlement that won final court approval.

The $70 million medical monitoring program, $5 million for concussion research, and changes to concussion rules “provide substantial benefits to the class in an effective and equitable manner,” Judge John Z. Lee wrote for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

The settlement covers 4 million current and former athletes and 43 different sports.
