Jury finds for injured Tyson Foods worker

A Potter County jury has awarded a Tyson Fresh Meats worker $632,395 after his arm was crushed at the company’s Amarillo plant in 2009. The verdict said Mahdey Abdi, 44, deserved $48,032 in lost wages as well as additional payment of damages for physical pain, mental anguish, disfigurement and impairment. Abdi was working on the cleanup shift at Tyson’s Amarillo beef processing plant when a conveyor pulled his hand and arm into the conveyor machinery, according to court documents.
