CPSC issues voluntary recall of golf carts, utility vehicles for fire risk.

The AP (9/20) reports that the US Consumer Product Safety Commission "on Wednesday issued a voluntary recall for about 4,000 golf carts and utility vehicles, because of a possible fire hazard." The AP explains that the "2012 model year gasoline and diesel-powered carts and vehicles were made by Augusta, Ga.-based Club Car LLC and sold through authorized dealers from April through June of this year for between $5,500 and $17,700 each." The CPSC has reported that "the fuel tank filler neck can crack and allow fuel to leak and potentially cause a fire," and that there have been 10 reported incidents involving cracks in the fuel tank filler neck but no reports of injuries or fires. The Atlanta Business Chronicle (9/20, Couret, Subscription Publication) and 4-Traders.com (9/20) also cover this story.
