Consumer protection bureau launches site to receive customer concerns, suggestions.

In his Los Angeles Times (2/4) column, David Lazarus reports the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau launched ConsumerFinance.gov ahead of the agency's July 21 start date in efforts to connected with consumers and signal a crackdown on poor business practices. The launch coincided with a letter to top bank executives warning "not to violate laws protecting active-duty service members from home foreclosures and high interest rates." Bureau overseer Elizabeth Warren also reached out business representatives. David Hirschmann of the US Chamber of Commerce said business leaders "are trying to be more supportive" but noted tentativeness in ensuring "the agency's rules are consistent with other regulators."
