Settlement reached in Coppertone Sunscreen Class Action

Posted By Dean Gresham || 26-Sep-2012

Merck & Co has agreed to settle a nearly-decade old lawsuit over false claims made about the benefits of Coppertone sunscreen products. Merck will no longer use the terms "sunblock," "waterproof," "sweatproof," "all day" and/or "all day protection" in the marketing or labeling of the products. The company will also pay a sum between $3 million and $10 million as a settlement. Staff Report, Reuters 09/25/2012
