The AP (3/1) reported an attorney representing 23 alleged Wisconsin sex abuse victims released a letter Tuesday from then-Milwaukee Archbishop Timothy Dolan, which he claims proves Dolan valued the church's reputation above addressing "the actions of an abusive priest." The letter to then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, requests the defrocking of Franklyn Becker, following decades of sex abuse allegations. Dolan noted litigation possibilities "make the potential for true scandal very real." But Dolan also wrote Becker's dismissal would ensure justice and healing. Plaintiffs' attorney Jeff Anderson argued "there's nothing in that or the actions they seem to have taken concerning Becker that are dedicated to anything but ... secrecy and preservation of their own reputation."
