Ford Motor Co.’s F-150 pickup trucks are being investigated by U.S. regulators because straps attaching fuel tanks may rust and break, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
About 1.4 million trucks from the 1997 to 2001 model years may be affected, NHTSA said today on its website. The auto safety agency said it has received 28 complaints about breaking straps that cause the tanks to drag or detach.
NHTSA said it also received four complaints about corrosion where the tanks didn’t detach.
